I’m originally from Arkansas, moved to Wisconsin, and finally settled in Alton, Illinois in the St. Louis metro area. We chose Alton because it was reasonably close to my husband’s job as an industrial electrician and close enough to St. Louis to access the opportunities of a major metro area while keeping small-town values.
Honestly? I love that Alton actually has seasons. In Arkansas, you had summer and maybe a couple weeks of “winter” plus a long tornado season. In Wisconsin, you had a month of summer and forever winter. Alton actually has a few weeks of spring and fall!
